FIRST VISIT

What to expect during your first visit to FlowForce Rehab?

Once you arrive and are greeted by Dr. Ben:

  • check
If you haven't already, you will be asked to fill out the necessary New Patient Intake Form (It's 100% digital and can be completed online at your convenience)
  • check
You will then be invited into our consultation room by Dr. Ben.

During your first visit, Dr. Ben will discuss the following:

  • check
    Your medical history
  • check
Your current problems/concerns and how they started
  • check
Your pain intensity, what aggravates and also what eases the problem
  • check
How this issue is impacting your daily activities
  • check
Your short and long term goals
  • check
Any medications and other relevant information related to your health
  • Any and everything else that could possibly influence your condition and recovery

Dr. Ben will perform a comprehensive assessment including:

  • check
Palpation - touching around the area of the pain/problem. This is done to check for the presence of tenderness, swelling, soft tissue integrity, tissue temperature, inflammation, etc.
  • check
Range of Motion (ROM) - moving the joint(s) to check for the quality of movement and any restrictions.
  • check
Muscle Testing - checking for strength and the quality of the muscle contraction. Pain and weakness may be noted. Often the muscle strength is graded. This is also part of a neurological screening.
  • check
Neurological Screening - checking to see how the nerves may be influencing your condition, communicating with the muscles, sensing touch, pain, vibration, or temperature. Reflexes may be assessed as well.
  • check
Special Tests - Performing special physical tests to confirm/rule out the presence of additional problems.
  • check
Functional Assessment - Performing specific full-body movements in order to determine your overall function.

What Do I Need To Bring With Me?

If you have any imaging reports, please make sure you bring them with you (X-ray/MRI/CT).

How Should I Dress?

It is best to wear clothing and shoes that are appropriate for exercise. Wear loose-fitting clothing so you can expose the area that we will be evaluating and treating. For example, if you have a knee problem, it is best to wear shorts. For a shoulder problem, a tank top is a good choice, and for low back problems, wear a loose fitting shirt and pants, again so we can perform a thorough examination.

How Long Will Each Treatment Last?

Treatment sessions typically last 60 minutes for the initial visit, and either 15/30/60 minutes for any follow-up visits depending on your specific needs.

How Many Visits Will I Need?

The number of sessions that you will need varies. You may need a small number of visits or you may need a longer period of care depending on multiple factors. You will be evaluated during your first consultation and Dr. Ben will give you a plan to completely resolve the underlying cause behind your condition. You will then be re-evaluated on a regular basis to ensure you are on track to getting back to a healthy and happy life!

What Do I Need To Know About Appointments?

Arrive for your first session 15 minutes early to fill out the New Patient form if you haven’t already. Late arrival may affect not only your 1-on-1 time with the doctor but that of other patients in the clinic. Actively participate in the discussion with Dr. Ben to determine your goals and ambitions.

If an emergency prevents you from attending, try to provide adequate notice. It is important to review the cancellation policy prior to the start of treatment. You will get out of treatment what you put into it. Sufficient effort, as agreed between you and the doctor, is necessary to get maximum benefit from each treatment session.

How Do I Pay?

You can pay with cash, check, credit/debit card, FSA/HSA card, or Venmo.  We can also provide you with the documentation necessary for insurance reimbursement.

The next step...

Following the assessment, Dr. Ben will tell you what the cause of your pain is and how to get you back to a healthy and happy life, free of your pain. A plan is prepared, with you, including how many times you should see Dr. Ben, and how many weeks you are likely to need treatment to completely resolve your problem. You will work with Dr. Ben to develop a program which includes self-care, rehab exercises, any necessary training modifications, education, short-term/long-term goals, and what is expected after discharge from care.
